Tradition, we have it!

Established by Gus Seliskar in the 1930's, Pine Point Lodge has served the Ely, Minnesota resort vacationer through seven decades. Demonstrating the skills of a true northwoods craftsman, Gus built his cabins on a select point of land covered by towering Norway and white pines. He then landscaped his new resort shoreline bluffs with rock walls of hand split native black slate. The resort stayed in the Seliskar family as his son and daughter-in-law, Augie & Berna, took over and continued to maintain the high standards of lodging accommodations and friendly service his father had pioneered in the Ely area. Through the late 70's and early 80's the Bergland family added their touch as Charles guided many walleye fishermen and Bonnie looked after the housekeeping.

In 1984 the current owners, John & Kathy Schiefelbein, moved to Ely, Minnesota, purchased the resort, and started a phased major upgrade of the entire facility. Completed for the 2001 season, a modernized Pine Point Lodge now welcomes visitors with fresh cabin interiors featuring new kitchens and bathrooms, beautiful exteriors with decks and bar-b-ques, and new boats for enjoying our spectacular chain of lakes.

Ely Location, we have it!

Our close proximity to Ely affords our guests quick access to stores, grocery shopping, churches, and a theater. There are several restaurants in the Ely area. They range from true gourmet dining, through a fine steakhouse and a delicious Italian restaurant, a few resort dining rooms, to several fast food, pizza, and ice cream spots.

Comfortable Accommodations, we have them!

All of our ample cabins include shower equipped bathrooms, gas heat and hot water. A gas range, a full sized refrigerator, coffee maker, and a complete array of cooking and eating utensils are provided. A microwave oven rounds out our new kitchens. Each cabin has its own Webber Kettle bar-b-que grill adjacent to its lakefront deck. Linens and blankets are included for your convenience; guests supply their own kitchen, bath, and beach towels. Our remodeled bathrooms all have showers. Each cabin has parking space for one car adjacent to the unit; additional car and/or trailer parking is available elsewhere on the resort. Due to our wooded setting and winding drive, we cannot accept large vehicles such as RVs and motor homes. To maintain the aesthetics of the property, we do not allow car or tent camping.

Each cabin also comes with a 16-foot, deep hull, Lund SSV boat. Of course life jackets, flotation cushions, oars, and an anchor are all provided. Guests may bring their own outboard motors or rent one of our late-model 15HP Johnson motors. Daily and weekly rates are available. We have straight gasoline available, or it can be mixed to any oil ratio.

Area Activities, we have them!

Off property activities ... you bet!

1. Bring your golf clubs. We have several 9-hole and 18-hole courses where you can be on the first tee in less than an hour from leaving your cabin.

2. The Ely International Wolf Center (four miles from the resort) has been featured on many TV nature documentaries. True-to-life dioramas, and a wild captive wolf pack will both educate and fascinate you for hours.

3. The Dorothy Moulter Museum in Ely is a tribute to the last permanent resident of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Dorothy died in 1986, and her log cabins were moved by dog sled teams to be visited by thousands of interested folks each year.

4. The Tower-Soudan Underground Mine State Park is a half hour's drive from Ely. Visitors descend over a half mile to the face of the last iron vein worked prior to the mine's closure.
