Paddle-In  Entry  Points

All canoe trips going into Quetico Park by paddling from the Ely area funnel through Prairie Portage. There are 15 parties daily. At "Prairie" you will present your CANPASS Customs Clearance (secured in advance), pay your camping fees, and purchase your non-resident Ontario fishing licenses. Prairie Portage is reached via the 6-mile long Moose Lake Chain (see BWCA: Moose Lake Entry) by a three- to four- hour paddle or a 30-minute towboat ride. Most towboat parties reach Prairie about 8-9AM, paddling parties about lunch time. From there, the entry points lie in three different directions: East to Carp Lake, North to Agnes, Kahshahpiwi, and Sarah, and West to Basswood River via the 20-mile length of Basswood Lake.

Fly-In  Entry  Points

Unlike the Boundary Waters where all entry points can be reached via van or from our docks, Quetico Park has two ranger stations which can be reached by float plane. Our fly-in trips can start on Lac La Croix or Beaverhouse Lakes. There are several entry points from each of these locations from which directional travel begins. Because a landing is made at the Canadian Customs Station on Sand Point Lake (enroute), no advance customs clearance is necessary. This cost savings can, therefore, be applied towards the charter aircraft rate ... lowering your Canadian fly-in trip budget
