We outfit our parties with the same "top-of-the-line"
equipment we use ourselves. Our ultra-light materials are built to
our demanding specifications. This allows us to provide our
customers with safe, strong, and comfortable equipment. Our
suppliers are recognized by outdoorsmen as leaders in their
respective fields.
Canoes
Your custom food and equipment packs, along with your personal items are stored in an ultra-light canoe from
Mad River, We-No-Nah, Old Town, Dagger, or Alumacraft. Our canoes can save as much as 30 pounds over the weight of some of the standard weight canoes supplied by some outfitters. There is no one-canoe that is best for all things. Super-lightweight canoes are easy to carry on portages, and their sleek design makes them fast on the water. They make the perfect choice for paddlers who primarily want to travel the area, versus taking a fishing trip. Wider canoes are a little slower, but far more stable for paddlers who intend to do a lot of fishing. Our aluminum canoes with their flat bottoms and a one-inch lake keel, are very stable, track arrow straight, and have considerable less skid in a crosswind; perfect for novice paddlers.
Equipment
Your complete gear list will be packed in a rugged, cordura nylon duluth packs. It will consist of an oversize Eureka tent (i.e.: 2 to 3 people per 4-man tent), comfortable Kelty, Slumberjack, or Everest Elite sleeping bags (temperature ratings adjusted throughout the season), soft Therm-A-Rest air/foam sleeping pads, and all necessary Mirro cookware and Lexan eating utensils. Our checklists continue with no cost extras such as Coleman stoves (fuel is included - not added at an extra charge), sharp saws and axes, utility cord and food pack rope ... all to insure a comfortable, memorable trip. No cost optional equipment such as lanterns and camp ovens are also available.
Food
We take great pride in our food packs. Personally trail testing freeze-dried
foods from many suppliers helps us to choose a variety of brands and menus that
are the tastiest, most nutritious and easiest to prepare. We then pack
quantities to satisfy north country appetites.
Included with our food packs are
an ample supply of snacks, staples and cleaning supplies. Most of our parties
elect to have Certified Angus Beef
™
steaks or one of our other fresh meat selections the first night out. The next
morning you can find fresh eggs, bacon or sausage in your frying pan. For your
fish: breading, shortening, tartar sauce and lemon juice. And you can be sure
our food packers have included "a little something extra" for a special treat
while you're in the woods....
Complete Outfitting We
offer three levels of ultra-light outfitting. Our SILVER plan is used by
slightly more than half of our complete parties. Our
Silver + package replaces our Royalex canoes with
those made of Kevlar, cutting the weight by 15-18 pounds. Our
GOLD plan is used by
those wanting an upscale level of equipment (expedition grade) and food
(enhanced menu). Regardless of the plan, our complete packages include all
equipment, food, and trip planning.
Trips may range from three days to as long as you want it to
be.
Discounts ranging from $25 - $150 per person are available for a
variety of situations: mid-week starts, early or late season travel, parties
of six or more people, and children 17 & under. We even offer a student rate
up to the age of 21! Complete Outfitting

Fly-In Canoe Trips Canadian wilderness fly-in canoe
trips are an experience like no other. From the expectation as you watch our
North Country staff strap your canoe to the outside of a DeHavilland
"Beaver" or the big nine passenger "Otter", or as you board a Cessna "Skywagon"
aircraft ... to the silence when your plane flies out of sight after leaving
you on a remote Canadian lake ... the start of your trip will live in your
memory for years. A fly-in trip gives you a grasp of the magnitude of the
wilderness as it spreads out before you.
Whether you are looking for a twist for the seasoned
veteran, a chance to get really deep into the woods, the "ultimate" canoe
trip, or just want the absolute best of the north country's wilderness
fishing, your adventure will get off to a better start with a fly-in. When
TV Pros like McKinnis, Martin, Winkleman head in for Canadian smallmouth,
Quetico Park is where they go. We will make all the arrangements for you to
charter a Federally certified float plane with a fully licensed,
experienced, bush pilot. Fly-In Canoe Trip

Youth Group Trips
At North Country we believe
strongly that organized activities for the youth of our nation will help
them to grow into stronger citizens who are well prepared for the challenges
of adult life. Many of these groups seek out opportunities such as our
wilderness canoe trips as a guided experience to help young men and women
learn skills not used at home and to gain self confidence. These
organizations can receive packages for up to half off of our private party
rates. A minimum of eight people is required with no more than half being
adults.
Partial Outfitting
Have most of your own gear? We can fill in
the holes with equipment specifically designed for the canoe country. Our minimum charge
of $50 per person per trip can be applied to gear or food and includes trip planning,
parking, and showers.
